Standing Up for His Community – Support Aleksandar Arsenijević

Mr. Aleksandar Arsenijević has dedicated his life to standing up for the rights and dignity of Kosovo Serbs. From an early age, he experienced firsthand the hardships of displacement.

Born in Pristina, his family became refugees during the Kosovo War. Despite facing challenges from early on, he pursued higher education – earning a master’s degree in chemistry while actively advocating for student rights. He later continued his studies in law, further demonstrating his commitment to knowledge and justice.

Over the years, Arsenijević has been at the forefront of advocating for the everyday rights of Kosovo Serbs. He has spoken out against discrimination, highlighted issues affecting his community, and repeatedly placed himself at personal risk to ensure their concerns are heard.

His efforts have made him a target—he has recently received over 1,500 threats and has been arrested 15 times in connection to his activism. Today, he is forced to wear a bulletproof vest for his safety.

His activism has taken many forms. He has protested the forced closure of local institutions that have long served the Kosovo Serb community, defending their role in providing healthcare, education, and other essential services. On another occasion, he placed a Serbian flag in front of the Kosovo government building to highlight the right of Kosovo Serbs to express their national identity.

Arsenijević has also spoken out against economic and political measures that he believes undermine the Kosovo Serb presence in northern Kosovo. He has peacefully protested against Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s visits to North Mitrovica, arguing that they serve more as political provocations than genuine attempts at dialogue.

He has also raised concerns over the opening of major Albanian-owned stores in North Mitrovica during government crackdowns on the Kosovo Serb minority, seeing it as an attempt to alter the region’s economic and social balance at a time of heightened tensions.

Additionally, Arsenijević has demanded accountability for allegations of misconduct by Kosovo police, including claims of sexual harassment against Kosovo Serb women. He has publicly called for justice, insisting that all communities in Kosovo deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

As a result of his activism, Arsenijević has been fined a total of 12,000 euros across three separate instances for putting up election campaign posters without authorization in connection to the 2025 parliamentary elections in Kosovo. If these fines are not paid, he will be unable to run in the upcoming local elections, planned for autumn 2025.

We are looking for people willing to help Aleksandar pay his fines. Every contribution matters—thank you for your support!
